SUMMARY:First Friday and Opening for BA Harrington: Suite Américaine
DESCRIPTION:First Friday and Opening for BA Harrington: Suite Américaine | Fri. April 3\, 2026 | 5:00 – 8:00 pm ET | In-person\nWalk-ups are Welcome \nJoin us for First Friday and the opening for BA Harrington: Suite Américaine. Artist  BA Harrington  brings inherited craft knowledge into contemporary feminist practice. Revisiting historic American furniture typologies designed to accommodate women during the Early American and colonial periods (c. 1620–1700s)\, Harrington constructs and animates these forms while opening them physically and conceptually\, revealing interiors filled with textiles\, quilts\, and collaborative interventions. \nSuite Américaine is a part of Radical Americana\, a citywide initiative organized by The Clay Studio that unites Philadelphia’s leading arts and cultural Institutions through a series of exhibitions showcasing research-driven work by contemporary artists. \nSuite Américaine is generously supported by the Cambium Giving Society of the Museum for Art in Wood\, The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts\, The Bresler Foundation\, Pennsylvania Council on the Arts\, Philadelphia Cultural Fund\, the William Penn Foundation\, and Windgate Foundation.

SUMMARY:First Friday and Opening for A Room of Their Own: Still-Life Sculpture and the Creative Interior
DESCRIPTION:First Friday and Opening for A Room of Their Own: Still-Life Sculpture and the Creative Interior | Fri. May 1\, 2026 | 5:00 – 8:00 pm ET | In-person\nWalk-ups are Welcome \nJoin us for First Friday and the opening for A Room of Their Own: Still-Life Sculpture and the Creative Interior. Drawing on Virginia Woolf’s A Room of One’s Own (1928)\, A Room of Their Own examines the conditions and effects that facilitate creative work. A staged ladies’ writing desk anchors a still-life of carved wooden sculptural objects—domestic forms rendered with care and precision. This exhibition\, comprising art from the Museum for Art in Wood’s permanent collection alongside works on loan\, reflects on the nourishment of thought\, time\, and space as supports for the inspiration\, focus\, and discipline required to live a creative life. \nA Room of Their Own is generously supported by the Cambium Giving Society of the Museum for Art in Wood\, The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts\, The Bresler Foundation\, Pennsylvania Council on the Arts\, Philadelphia Cultural Fund\, the William Penn Foundation\, and Windgate Foundation.
