DESCRIPTION:The Center for Art in Wood announces the kickoff of a $5 million campaign with a lead gift from the Windgate Charitable Foundation of $2 million.\nThe Center for Art in Wood announces the kickoff of a $5 million campaign with a lead gift from the Windgate Charitable Foundation of $2 million. Half of the Windgate funds will endow the Center’s annual residency program\, to be renamed the Windgate ITE International Residency. The remainder of the gift will be used for Center operations to support exhibitions\, publications\, programing outreach and staffing. \nRichard R. Goldberg\, President of the Board of Trustees\, made the announcement on November 9\, 2013\, at the Center’s gala event honoring the Center’s founders\, Executive Director Albert LeCoff and brother Alan LeCoff. Tributes were paid in remarks by Charles H. Hummel\, Director Emeritus of Decorative Arts at Winterthur Museum; noted artists\, Michelle and David Holzapfel; and John Kelsey\, a prominent editor and artist together with written tributes from artists and supporters of the Center. \n \nGuests also toured a major exhibition of work by Binh Pho\, on view at the Center through January 4\, 2014. His work includes large scale architectural towers incorporating wood\, glass and ceramics.
